If I asked you what your favourite childhood memory was, or what memory from your childhood makes you smile, what would it be?

You see the trouble with memories is we can’t always choose which ones stay with us and which ones we forget. Sometimes we need a nudge or reminder for that memory to come flooding back. For me, my memories are usually of the small things that are somehow etched in my mind with no photographic evidence. As during my younger years cameras only came out for special occasions, birthdays, weddings, holidays and printing pictures was pricey so you took one picture and hoped for the best!

The trouble with memories is we can’t always choose which ones stay with us and which ones we forget.

Yet my most precious memories are when I played in my grandparents’ garden which always seemed so big and the trees so huge and we would pick apples and rhubarb and my Nan would make the most delicious pies, which I would then drench in custard out of the giant pyrex jug that was probably older than me!

I really wish my grandparents were still alive so I could ask them about what they remember about these moments so I could add their perspective to my memories, as well as them reminding me of stories I have probably forgotten.
