Get The Most Out Of Christmas This Year
Every year I forget just how crazy Christmas time is. Sending cards, buying presents, getting all the food together – let alone cooking it all. Between all the lights and tinsel; the wrapping paper and crackers, it’s easy to lose sight of what Christmas is all about.
A somewhat more secular occasion for the general public, Christmas is still a celebration of family, friends and a demonstration of gratitude for all we have. But year by year, it seems we’re falling into a deeper entanglement of commercialism and superficiality; placing emphasis on expensive presents, the biggest trees and all the themed merchandise companies can sell you.
This year, choose sentimentality over materialism, with Iternal.
The Perfect Time To Capture The Moments That Matter
With a bit of luck, you’ll be spending your Christmas day with your family, those closest to you and/or a loved one. It may be the first time in a long time that you’re in the same room as so many of those you care for, so why not take the opportunity to create and capture something really special – you don’t know when you’ll get this chance again!
While the food’s cooking, how about asking the chef for those secret family recipes? Imagine losing grandma’s cake; auntie’s gravy; or uncle’s ‘super secret special brew’ (… is it just my uncle?). Sure, they might put up a bit of a fight but once you explain you’re compiling the family recipes to be saved for future generations, they’ll give over.

How about recording that bit of advice from grandad in his own words? Or that story from grandma about being evacuated in the second world war? Not only are these stories priceless, but few people can still tell them. Ask them how they met; how they fell in love; what it was like raising mum or dad – you might just learn something useful too!
With the end of the year in sight, it’s the perfect time to get everyone new years resolutions down, and a good reference for next year to see if people actually stuck to them… Dig out the old family photos and get them on to the timeline; they’re sure to add some depth to your timeline and you might even inspire some old memories to resurface.
See Opportunity Everywhere...
Get that big family photo your mums always talking about getting! In fact, get as many pictures as you can; of everyone opening their presents; capture the excitement and joy in their faces. Immortalise your brother-in-law passed out on the sofa with all the empty boxes and discarded decorations stacked on top of him; especially the moment when he suddenly wakes up and it all comes tumbling down.

Don’t miss the chance to get some footage of the ‘very well-done’ but highly improvised nativity that all the kids put on after dinner – these moments don’t last forever and soon you’ll have to beg them to get them anywhere with you.
Speaking of kids; what about your childhood friends you’re meeting at the pub on Christmas Eve for your annual get together?
You know for a fact the stories and memories will come flooding back – don’t waste your opportunity! Use the audio recording feature on the Iternal app and start building a bank of the craziest, care-free experiences of your youth right there and then.
